I have never posted on eHealth before. Okay, I have TMJ, I was told when I was in my teens... I am now 49. I have all the typical things that come with having TMJ, i.e. earaches, headaches, clicking, ringing in the ears, continual pain in my ears, mirgraines, chronic sinus, back pain, sleep apnea, tension neck and shoulders, oh and I take Paxil for my depression. My question is does the maxillofacial surgery REALLY work. I was un aware of a new replacement that is now available for the jaw. How servear does my pain and being uncontrolable have to be to consider the replacement? I have a GREAT attitude, I'm extremely positive and active person, I would like my jaw to be corrected, I'm not sure what steps to take. I've always been told braces... but if I have braces, that does not fix the jaw, so if I have the surgery then will I need to have braces...? I'm trying to do my research now, I have my 1st appointment with a TMJ, 'specialist' on Wed. Any suggestions or advise?
thanks Wink
