Q: Masses on the pituitary gland
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 15th, 2009
I had an MRI yesterday they gave me the disk to take to my doctor. I poped it in my computer and under "INDICTIONS" it said: PITUITARY MASS. Please if you can tell me what a pituitary mass is. Thank you!

In your case, a pituitary mass means that the doctors discovered a mass that is part of the pituitary gland, but is not supposed to be there. The exact cellular components of the pituitary mass can not be determined without further examination and that is why the doctors did not put a definitive diagnosis down. Your doctor might refer you to a endocrinologist or neurologist for further examination.
