Q: Marriage Counseling

My husband and I recently separated after having a hard time living with our differences on top of our financial problems (which are bad). We are not planning on getting a divorce, but have agreed to attend marital counseling sessions.

Has anyone ever had marriage counseling? What can we expect? For some reason I am very nervous about them just telling us to get a divorce!

If you divorced him you would get half of everything he has.....What about your social security? I sure would do something about it....Wonder if he thinks he can take it with him?

my mom went to marriage counseling through her church. they gave her information on "what women wants" and "what men wants" for example men want an attractive women. it speaks about looking good for your husband. (this is in the bible).

they had home work to complete before they returned. they went once a week. what i like about it is it was bible based spiritual people who had a strong desire to save marriages. they also did relationship counseling.
this was my moms's second marriage. and she had to deal with telling the pastor the silly things my step-dad would do that involve other women that makes my mom insecure. my step dad was told not to have a problem in letitng my mom look in his wallet, or even check his cell phone if he doesnt have anything to hide. her heart was already gone, so she called it quits. and the pastor was still trying to keep them together.
