Hello and thank you so much for looking at my question. I am 16 years old and I really need help. I smoked some marijuana with some friends more than a week ago and it was the third time I did it but the first time I ever felt anything. I guess I took in a lot. I had an anxiety attack because I freaked out and had to sleep it off and after I woke up most of it was gone but I still felt bad. It has been more than a week (about 8 days) and I've still been having pretty bad headaches, my throat dries up a lot, my throat feels like its closing up, I have trouble breathing, my eyes feel weird and I have trouble following fast moving objects, I get tired quickly, I have trouble sleeping, today I’ve been feeling weak, and I think that’s it. I’m pretty sure the marijuana wasn’t laced with anything because everyone else I smoked with is ok. What is happening to me? Has this ever happened to anyone? How long did it take to go away? What should I do? I know it was a stupid thing to do but I just wanted to see what it was like to get high. I am not a frequent marijuana user nor do I use any drug. I just wanted to know what it was like and I can honestly say because of this experience I will never touch marijuana or any drug ever again. I just want to be back to normal again. Thank you for your time and any help that anyone can give me will be very appreciated.

Um... if you had an anxiety attack because of weed then you probably already had a disorder, and it set it off. Feeling like your throat is closing up a week after you smoked it though means that it has nothing to do with the marijuana... you could have asthma maybe.

marijuana
I am sure your anxiety and panic has to do with the chemicals in your brain. You should not do drugs because it will bring out the bad effects and fear of this, however the marijuana just triggered it. Everyone has a trigger who can have these symptoms and it can be a number of things. Get on klonopin, go see psychiatrist and find groups to talk with, therapy and the correct ssri for you, do not delay it can get worse, you will never go insane it is part of the fear produced by chemicals and flight or fight situation brought on by norepinephrine, seritonin, and gabe. Your mind misinterprets your feelings, get help asap or write me.

thanks sasslyee for your quality post. sane and informed, a relative rarity when it comes to this topic. all i would add is be aware of the addictive qualities of drugs like xanax, ativan, valium, etc., all having effects similar to klonopin, but with more addictive potential due to essentially the speeds at which they start and stop working--primarily the former i guess; and maybe u should see the psychiatrist before starting the klonopin, and see it as something u don't want to spend the rest of your life taking, with the ssri being your friend in that case if necessary. i'm sorry that smoking bud had such a negative effect on you, but like others have said it is quite unlikely that it was a "causative"--rather an inciting--agent; it is a master at bringing that anxiety out of everyone. i hope the original poster saw the previous post and benefited. our mental health is precious... best of luck.
