Recently I got a bad infection on my finger from manicure, my question is can it lead to other infectious diseases such as Hepetetis, HIV or Aids sorry if I sound paranoid because there was an article that I read that scares me after reading it because it said that if the tools aren't sterilize than chances for one to be infected is there. In the first place if the tools were sterilize than I won't get infected right.

Did you do the manicure yourself or did you get someone else to do it? If you had a professional then, by law (depending where you live) the tools should be sterilized. But that doesn't mean that they were. If it was a professional you should find out if they sterilize their tools and how. If it's just a matter of running them under hot water, that may not be good enough. If you did it yourself or just had a friend do it with your own tools, and didn't sterilize them well, then you can get a severe infection. The only way you can get aids is if the tools were used on someone else that has aids and they were cut, then the tools were used on your without being sterilize. But I sure hope you don't go somewhere without checking that they sterilize their tools. It's just like a tattoo parlour.

Thanks LadyKitten for your reply and info I went to a manicurist to had it done. There was pain involved when the manicurist who was rushing off somewhere accidently went too deep into the cuticle and after that I got infected. Now it left be paranoid and sceptical. Sorry for sounding paranoid but I am worried.

You have a valid concern when it comes to manicures and being cut. I never used to go manicures but when I got married I liked how they did my nails for the wedding so I kept going monthly. One time the manicurist cut me and he acted like if nothing. I didn't saw he used sterile instruments afterwards. He buffed my nail with a used buffer that was certainly used by many. I got terrified but I didn't said anything there. I wasn't worried about HIV because that one will not live on air like that but I was highly concerned about Hepatitis C. (hepatitis B didn't worried me because I have been vaccinated at work). There is being lots of cases of Hep C infection through manicures. I inmediatly thought about getting tested. I waited like 3 months, you have to wait at least this time to make sure you don't have the virus. It came out negative fortunatelty. Having this scare I never again went to manicurist. It's not worth the risk. The thruth is that unless they sterilize their equipment to a medical level they are not safe. And most of manicure places do no sterilize this way. Medical grade sterilizing means the instruments have to be autoclaved. Bleach is actually very effective but neither they don't do that. In fact I don't think they really know how these disesases are transmitted. Hep C is very dangerous because their many people have it and they don't know it. So I say get tested for hep C three months from now just to be sure (hep B also if you don't have vaccination). If hep C is discovered early there is big chance of keeping under remission as there is treatments out there.

Good luck!
