I'm a 28yr old guy and couldn't believe I had a yeast infection this past year.
I had all of the symptoms, splotchy spots, dry, flaky penis. Hard to retract foreskin since the moisture was gone. It was itchy and irritated all the time.
It was a combination of stress(had been laid off and was job searching), bad eating and a super strong antibiotic Avelox I was taking for a bronchitis.
I used a 2.5 step treatment recommended my best friend who at the time was in nursing school---really smart woman:
1. I started eating more yogurt to help replenish the natural microbial flora in my stomach. I also took an additional Acidophilus tablet each day. This was to build back the immune systems that was compromised by the antibiotic.
2. To clean my penis (once in the morning and then before going to bed)I would make fill a clear plastic cup no more than 1/8 full of white vinegar and then filled up to the 3/4 pt. with hot/warm water. I would then put my penis in this warm vinegar bath. It burns only slightly initially, but it actually felt really good to relieve the extreme itching from the infection.
Retract your foreskin if you can and then Shake your penis around a lot in there... you literally see the stuff coming off the penis... Not sure it was yeast or dead skin cells. In my mind it was like watching the yeast screaming in pain and jumping ship off my penis!(dorky I know)
3. After cleaning my penis and making sure it was dry, I applied regular Monistat 3 once before going to work and then again before going to bed. I felt embarrassed that I had to buy it in the "women's section" in the convenience store. But whatever, just suck it up. (The #'s 1, 3, and 7 just correspond to the strength of the medicine. For women a 7day treatment is less strong vs. a 1 day. I split the difference and bought the 3.)
So, I'd just squirt some of the cream with the weird applicator thingee onto my finger and then retract my foreskin as far as it would go and generously apply all over the head of my penis and run my finger under the foreskin.
So after 3-4 weeks of having a yeast infection and having nothing work like trying useless anti-fungal creams, and antibiotic creams. This treatment made a difference in 3-4 days because it attacks candida balanitis yeast specifically.
Hope this helps someone in the future... I did no find anything online in terms of actual treatment...
Afterwards, when I had health insurance again, I went to a Urologist. The problem didn't believe me. He thought I was confused and sort of making it up! He said to me "men don't get yeast infections" Freakin' fool...
