My opthamologist diagnosed me with macular degeneration. I am going to see a retina specialist this week.
I am scared to death. It kind of came on suddenly. My vision was blurred in my left eye--actually more like a blind spot and I thought I was getting a migraine.
It came on suddenly but I read that it can happen that way. I am already noticing things are harder to read because of the "center of vision" getting blurred in that eye.
I heard about the injections that can 'SOMETIMES" help. I am willing to try those, but I am afraid my medical insurance will not cover it. From what I understand the drug that is used is "off label." My ins. doesn't cover that kind of thing. If I can't have the shots, I guess I'll just slowly go blind. I remember reading about MD many many years ago, and thought "I hope I never get that." Here it is now.
Is there anyone that can tell me something to make me feel a little less anxious?
