Q: lymphnodes swollen on both sides of spine

my brother has swollen lymphnodes in his lower back on both sides of his spine...can you tell me what could cause this and should he be worried???

In most cases, enlarged lymph nodes are the result of infection or inflammation in the body (the lymph nodes will "react" to such stimuli as part of their normal function).

However, in a minority of cases, enlarged lymph nodes can be a sign of lymphoma (a type of cancer that begins within the lymph nodes), or other types of cancer.

Your brother should undergo a thorough physical examination by a qualified doctor.
