I have recently been diagnosed with Lupus but was told I have had it for quite some time. I have gained a tremendous amount of weight and eat pretty much the same amount of food. I would like to have the lap band surgery and was wondering if any one has had this type of surgery performed and if so how successful was your results? I take plaquenil and have for years because I have RA also. I have also taken predisone for my asthma and now for the lupus. I really need to lose this weight because it causes a lot of pain on my lower back and knees. I have tried exercise but I get tired very quickly and my joints hurt all the time. I need help ASAP!!!!

Hi... sorry you are having so much difficulty. Maybe check out the Hauser diet. I know you're probably thinking... another diet?!?!? However, apparently it has rave reviews and people who have tried and failed at other diets, swear by this diet. It's different in the sense that it first tests you with a questionnaire, which then determines which diet plan (there are 5) fits YOU. Their idea is that not everyone is the same, and so they determine what your body type is first, what you require, etc., and then you follow the plan that best fits you. It's worth a try... before resorting to surgery. Surgery should be your last resort. Oh... and the book provides you with some really delicious recipes to help you on your way. Good luck!
