Q: Lupus , Lyme disease , and Fibromyalgia
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 4th, 2008
Based on the tests and symptoms, is there anything that could have been missed by passing me around? I'm scared and tired of hurting every day with no answers. I don't expect a diagnosis, just another opinion on what I can ask the Neurologist to test for. A friend (nurse) suggested Lupus, Lyme Disease, and Firbo Myalgia. I don't know what these are, but do they have merrit? HELP??? I want to take charge of this and help show them it is not in my head!!! Do you see anything that could have been missed or should be tested for?

Hysterectomy Answer A4648
Current medical status: Severe IBS, TMJ, restless leg syndrome and leg pain, tingling and numbness in hands and feet, anxiety, heart palpatations, pain in the rib area, migraines, optical or silent migraines, lack of concentration, vertigo, muscle and joint pain, severe leg pain and burning, neck tension and pain at the base of my neck, feel need to urinate often but no UTI, always tired even after sleeping nine hours, uncomfortable sleep, stiff ankles and legs after lying or sitting too long, indigestion and acid reflux, and hunger pains two hours after eating, and Syncope( 4 episodes in six months with no after effects or blackout times, completely fine after and only out seconds) Tests include: Head CT: normal, Echocardiogram: normal, Halter and Event monitors: normal, Tilt Table: normal, Leg and breast ultrasounds: normal, D dimer: normal, Thyroid: normal, Hormone levels: normal for post hyst., Standard blood work-up: normal, No diabetes, EEG: Abnormal(finally something).
Current medical treatment: I've been passed around the doctors for about 6 months. My family Dr left the practice two months into testing, so I've been passed around the office ever since. My Gyn passed me off to my Oncologist, who passed me back to my family Dr, who passed me to my Cardiologist, who is passing me on to a Neurologist. I see the Neurologist on Sept. 15th.

There are certain diagnostic criteria for lupus which I believe that doctors have examined. Lyme disease is an infective disease which is diagnosed clinically (according to the symptoms) and by specific serological blood tests. Fibromialgia is diagnosed according to certain clinical criteria and by excluding the other possibilities.

You are still missing the final examination by a neurologist because your EEG report was abnormal. Your symptoms can also be related to the early climax you got because of the ovaries' removal. Beside a neurologist you may want to also consult a rheumatologist about your condition.
