Q: lungs not developing

Hello I am 15 years old and will be 19 weeks pregnant tomorrow and I just got the results of my blood tests back today and there is somehting wrong with the my son... They are syaing that his lungs are not growing like they should and that he will have to have breathing treatments his whole life and I don't quite understand any of this really... can anyone help.... I want to knwo what could happen to my little babyboy if this keeps up if he wiill make it and everyhting like that.... I am really scared.....

PLEASE HELP ANYONE AND PLEASE HURRY I AM REALLY UPSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are good questions for your doctor. Did they explain exactly what was wrong with his lungs? How do they know he'll need breathing treatments? He still has 21 weeks to go in the womb - that sounds a little like jumping the gun to me, but of course I'm not a doctor. Really, hon, this is something you should discuss with him/her.

Was this something that was seen on your ultrasound? or just bloodwork?
Ultrasound can see a number of congenital lung disorders, which can cause problems after birth and later into the baby's life. Some of these disorders can also be treated shortly after birth or subside later on as well.

There is something called "cystic lung abnormality' that is diagnosed at around 19 weeks.
