Q: lung nodules

I am a 49 yr old male. I had a normal chest x-ray a month ago and it showed some opacification on both right and left lungs, my Dr. ordered another chest x-ray right away to confirm and the second x-ray was more pronounced than in the first x-ray with the abnormalities of opacification. To make sure I had to do a CT scan and it showed multiple nudules n both my right and left lungs some as big as 15mm.

I am not a smoker and am active, never had any cancer before. The only thing I know that relates to my lungs is that I have been feeling sharp pain on my left lung for years (>20yrs).

Right before the first chest x-ray I had a cold with persistent cough and discgarge of some greenish mucus that went for over a month.

Can these nodules be from inflammation/infection or are they canceruse.?

I had a chest x-ray last year about this time and there was no trace of any nodules or any other complications.

Did my EKG and all is normal.
Did my breathing test all is normal.
Did my blood work, all came normal.

Should I ask my doctor for antibiotics rather than wait for more tests... waiting further for more tests could agravate the infection, if my problem is because of infection?

Any explanation is welcome

Chronic infeciton with certain organisms can cause granulomatous nodules in the lungs. Cancer that has spread from another place in the body can also, unfortunately, cause multiple lung nodules.

It may be prudent to consider having one or more of these nodules biopsied so that an accurate diagnosis can be made, and the appropriate treatment initiated.
