Two days ago I was simply walking into a store when I felt something in the bottom of my foot...it began near the middle and felt like a "rip" that moved from where it began toward my toes - I could feel it move...there was some pain associated with it - but tolerable...however felt very strange...now there is a soft lump, probably the size of a quarter, where the "rip" ended -a bit tender - but it isn't stopping me from normal activities. Any ideas?

According to the symptoms you reported, you might be experiencing local inflammation. What the exact cause is can not be determined without further tests. You might want to wait to see if the lump will disappear in a few days.

Meanwhile, avoid wearing tight shoes or standing more than necessary. If the lump is still there after several days or becomes reddish, hot, or increases its size, you might want to visit your doctor.
