1 week ago i had a lump removed from my breast for the 2nd time in a year. the dr said it was non cancerous, but there were some atypical cells in there which makes me more confused, why did i get the lump back within a year in the same breast.

I wonder if all the cells were gotten the first time? If any were left it could have just regrown..I have fibrocysitc breast disease and have mammograms every 6 months just because of the lumps I have..

I would say if there was atypical cells that they should be doing something..When do you go back to doc and what is his plans?

Tell him you are very concerned especially with atypical cells and what exactly did the atypical cells show-is there a name for what it showed?..Were there alot of atypical cells and why are there atypical cells to begin with? Is there a chance this could become full blown breast cancer, is he thinking this to be a possibility in the future? If yes you will need to be ready with an answer in what you want to have done..2nd Oprionions never hurt-if you do that take all information ask for a CD of the biopsy, mammogram and report..Any labs drawn in the past 6 months..I gotta be honest -when I go to the docs and have tests I get the reseults same day or by next day I want reports faxed to me..Reason is because errors do happen..

i never had any blood work done, not for this surgery i just had last week nor the one last year. i was thinking about the same thing getting a copy of the path report. i do have history of bc in family, and when i heard atypical cells i got worried cause all i thought was bad cells that arent suppos to be there, im only 36.

Hi--they willnot do naything for Fibrocystic breast disease unless there is a problem..FOr me it has been a wait and see if more changes occur..I did have a mrker placed to watch one spot..They inject a marker into the breast after numbing (yes it still hurt) and ther after will show up on mamograms and can tell if there are real changes in size etc..
