Q: Lumps and scaling of breasts
asked by: DoctorQuestion on May 2nd, 2009
In the past month I have noticed red, scaley bumps on my breasts about the size of a pinky fingernail. When the scaley part peels off theres a hole that is left there. It doesn't hurt or itch. Really if I never took a shower or paid attention I wouldn't have ever known they were there. I am a 36F and I just figured it was normal to have problems if your big breasted but now I worry if theres something else going on. I also always have lumps that form under my armpit guessing ingrown hair. Shoould I be worried? Oh yea Im 28 years old in case you needed to know.
Help,

It is hard to tell what the lumps are without seeing them. It seems likely that the exact location of the lumps would be helpful. If the lumps are on the lower side of the breasts in the part where they touch the ribcage, it is possible that the humidity from sweat might create an excellent environment for fungi.

It is a possibility that you might be experiencing a fungal infection.
You might want to visit your family doctor or a dermatologist in order to confirm or rule out the possibility of a fungal infection.

If fungal infection is confirmed, then antifungal medications might be recommended. Keeping the area dry might prevent future fungal infections.
