Q: Lump on the rectum
asked by: DoctorQuestion on May 10th, 2008
Im am a 17 yoar old male and have just discovered a small pinkish lump on the right hand side of my rectum. It is less than a centimeter in size, it is round and it only hurts when it is under pressure e.g. if touched. Some info on the web suggests it may be a hemeroid, others say it could be cancer. I am really worried that I may have some form of cancer and that Im going to die! It is really really scaring me.

I havent seen the doctor yet as I am scared of the results I may get. I have no other symtoms whatsoever, just the small lump. Its not really that firm and moves easily as it is in soft tissue.

I dont drink very often and dont smoke.

I will admit that I have had the occasional joint once in a blue moon so I am having it in small ammounts and not very often.

I am really really scared of what it could be.

Please can you help me and tell me what It most probbably is?

Thanks

According to the description (“small, pinkish, and painful on pressure lump in the rectum”) the lump on the rectum could be a hemorrhoid or a wart. Chances for it to be a cancer are very small.
You should visit your primary health provider for an examination.
