Q: Lump on right testicle

I'm a 17 year old lad...

About 3 days ago I had mild pain in my testicles so I checked them and they where fine, I though I might have just done something awkward while sleeping.
The pain has increased since then, not to a crippling point but to a nagging pain.
I checked them and there is a lump and the back of my right testicle.
Oddly most of the pain seems to be coming from my left testicle so my thoughts are that it's an infection but would I have a lump with an infection?

Both testicles are normal size and i've had slight pain in my lower abdomen.

The lump is quite fleshy, so i'm not sure if it's actually a lump or a swolen vein, it's too painful to touch.

Any ideas what this is?

And i'm going to a doctor as soon as I can but i'd prefer if he didn't have to fondle me in order to check me out as i'm quite self conscious. Is it necessary for him to do so? I am going no matter what but it'd help my nerves to know I don't have to go reveal all to a stranger.

Thanks.
