The possibilities of diagnosis are very broad based on your description. Lumps on the chest in patients seen in my particular specialty (endocrinology) are often breast buds. I do an investigation to check for early puberty in these problems.

I suggest talking with your pediatrician further with details such as the exact location on the chest, is the lump growing in size, and is there redness or skin changes at the site of the lump.
