Roughly 4-5 years ago I noticed a small swelling to the tissue directly over the middle rib on my right ribcage, the area is roughly along where the ribcage runs from the side to the back. I noticed yesterday that the size of the swelling has now increased and that the shape has turned slightly more oval. The mass appears to be pliable, i.e. it shifts not acting like a lump that is fastened to anything.

There is no real discomfort, although it is where I noticed some tenderness when I work out with weights or leg lifts on a machine that puts the weight on the arm and upper back area. I have not had any nausea nor appetite or sleep habit changes.

I do have an appointment with a PA at my doctor's office this week. Two fold question - (1) What should I ask the PA about, such as needle biopsy, scan, etc.? (2) Is this more likely to be a fatty deposit that is growing or something more serious?

I do stay in shape working out both with weights, sit-ups and cardio 4-6 times a week for 45 minutes or longer on average. I had a physical last year, roughly 14 months ago with blood work and everything came back normal.

Please advise.

Thanks, baylor84
