Q: Lump on neck
asked by: DoctorQuestion on October 5th, 2009
What is this painful lump on my neck, right behind my right ear? And the pain goes down to almost middle of my neck. I checked online but most of what I found were really swollen, red, sticking out lump. Mine is not noticeable (yet). People wouldn't notice unless I asked them to feel both sides of my neck, then they feel that there is something on my right side of the neck.

I first noticed the pain on Monday, 09/28. I was massaging my neck to ease the pain when I noticed this tender lump.

There are several possibilities, including an inflamed sebaceous cyst (which are quite common in thids area of the body). Your physician can examine this area and advise you further.
