Q: lump near rectal area

My husband has a lump on the outside of his rectal area about the size of a small peach pit. It is hard to the touch and he says it has some pain when you touch it in curtain ways. It is on the left side of the rectal opening. I can see it and feel it. It is not discolored. Could it be a hernia?

I have the same lump just 2 days ago and I did some research and it might be Hemorrhoid but I am not sure. I might go to the doctor to have it examined later. It started when I got constipated and tried to defecate hard. If someone can advise what it is it will be a big help.
