Greetings all,
First and foremost, I am a 25 year old healthy male (asthma) 190lbs 5-10 and athletic, no family history of cancer. No smoking, few drinks etc.
Roughly 1 year ago I found a small lump in my neck, where I had assumed some lymph nodes would be. It is roughly around where one would take one's pulse on the right side of the neck roughly 1 inch from center of chin and roughly 2 inches back from point of chin. It cannot be bigger than the size of a pea. It is harder in consistency and rubbery. I believe its movable and becomes much much more apparent to feel it when I flex my neck, as in it can be felt clear as day, otherwise its harder to locate. Needless to say, some friends told me it was nothing to worry about, I forgot about it until recently as my neck was slightly sore on that side and felt the lump. Told a Co-worker who explained his ex-wife had something like that, ignored it and died of Stage IV lymphoma. This did not help my anxiety over the problem, so I booked a doctor's appointment. My Doctor found it, said it was fixed, said too high to be thyroid and not in a lymph node area, it's probably just a cyst as its way too small to even worry about at this point, if it gets bigger let me know, otherwise don't worry about it.
Well, I'm worrying about it. Should I just follow my doctor's orders or go seek a second opinion?
