Q: lump in mouth

Hi I have a hard lump in my mouth; it is between the jaw bone, when I close my mouth I can feel it on the outside. I have had this checked by my dentist who also xrayed it, telling me it is a cluster of cells. He has given me antibiotics to take for 5 days, after which I am to go back if nothing has moved. Nothing has changed, the lump is the same, it is hard, does not move but is not sore. On the inside of my mouth is red in the area with what looks like a white spot on it. What does my dentist mean a cluster of cells? should I go to my doctors? should I just stop worrying/ My Dad had throat cancer, never smoked in his life and is not a heavy drinker; although in those days pubs where full of smoke. I did smoke and packed in 5 years ago. Please give me some information, as my Mum is just getting over breast cancer I really don't want to talk to my family and give them unneccessary worry. i am female 46 and overweight. Rolling Eyes

I have been referred to a specialist today by my dentist; not sure what kind of specialist, never mind at least I know I am in the right hands and something will get done.
