Q: lump in lower back

I have a lump in my lower left back. I thought this may be related to the fact that I have my period right now. Is the lump a gland that swells up during periods? Does anyone else experience this?

This mass on your back is unlikely to be related to your periods (unless you have the very rare syndrome of "ectopic endometriosis," which is an implant of cells from the lining of your uterus outside of your abdominal cavity).

Unfortunately, it is impossible to provide a specific diagnosis on patients that I have not previously examined. I would, therefore, recommend that you have your doctor evaluate this mass.
