Q: Lump in Armpit

I found a lump in my armpit and it's really making me nervous.
Pain: Yes, for 3 days since I've noticed it.
Skin is turning read around the area.
No fever or nightsweats. Nothing out or the ordinary but what I said above.

What are the chances of this being something serious, like cancer?
It's run in my mothers side of the family.
