Years ago I was diagnosed with PCOS and had a very large fibroid tumor removed. 4 1/2 years later, another large fibroid (in same location) returned and was removed. Although doctors said I probably wouldn't, I had a baby in 2005. The scar tissue form the previous surgeries had taken over. My uterus was actually flipped upside down due to the scar tissue growing and attaching to everything in it's path. During the c-section the doctor noticed more fibroids. A year later I opted to have a complete hysterectomy.
Presently I have a lump in the same area where the fibroids were and where the scar tissue was the worst. At first it wasn't always noticable but I think it has grown over the last two years. Because I am "heavier" now, it isn't noticable or even easy to find when I am laying on the exam table. When talking to my gyn, he suggested I see my family doc for a possible hernia (since it seemed to appear and disappear). I think that it could be related to the scar tissue....but I worry about the fibroids. Can they return after a hystectomy? I have read about a type of utrine cancer that attacks the walls of the abdomin after the uterius is removed. (My doc thought i was ebing paranoid when i mentioned this)
Most recently I have had a cold/sinus thing with some spells of coughing. I think the lump expands when i cough (imagine squeezing one end of a balloon and the air pushing out the end).
Oh yeah, I don't have insurance and am engaged. I will be able to use his insurance so I am afraid to go to the doctor because if I find out it is something horrible, the insurance won't pay because it will be a "pre-exsisting" condition, but i am afraid to wait.
anyone had experiences with hernias after hysterectomy? or post hysterectomy tumors? or cancer of the missing uteterus??
