Q: Lump beside anal opening

Please bare with me this takes a bit of time to explain. Six months ago I developed a small lump the size of a nickel right next to my anal opening.
The lump can be painful at times and oozes fluid yellowish or greenish.
This lump tends to go up and down in size and when I press on it fluid will come out. I also have been having rectal bleeding and mucus. Sometimes I have no bowel movement and just mucus and bleeding. I have no constipation or diarhhea but I do have more frequent bowel movements. If I get the urgency to go the bathroom I have to get there quick because sometimes I soil myself with the mucus. I know this is disgusting to talk about but I was wondering if anyone has gone through anything like this. I have finally made a doctors appointment as I just aquired health insurance. I am scared to death after reading up on this on the internet.
I am convinced I have colon cancer and have myself dead and buried.
I am in good health I have no fatigue have not lost and weight and feeling fine
otherwise. I have absolutely no cancer or colon cancer in my family.
I am 50 years old and I know these things generally start at age 60.
Any help would be appreciated....

Calm down. It's probably just hemorrhoids. You should have seen a doctor before this. Most go away on their own, but when they don't, you need prescription cream to take care of them. If that turns out to be what it is, ask your doctor and do an internet search about how to prevent this in the future.

It probably wouldn't hurt to have a Colonoscopy (you're at about the right age to start). Even if you only have hemorrhoids right now, Colonoscopies actually prevent colon cancer and can diagnose many other issues. Talk to your doctor about it.

In the mean time, stop worrying until you talk to your doctor.
