I had severe back pain few days ago..then I had X-ray and MRI as suggested by doctor..and came to knew that I have lumbar spondylosis with grade 1 listhesis of L4 over L5 with sacralization L5 vertbrae. Intervertebral disc spaces between L4-L5 is reduced.
Now doctor has suggested me operation..but i heard that after this operations one gets paralysed or else brain is affected..so shall I go ahead with operation or else take up some other path such as bone setting or exercise or something else..
Please suggest me some treatment as soon as possible...

I have no idea where you are getting your information about spine surgery and people becoming paralysed or their brain is affected.

Spine surgeries are done daily, all over the world and people are not paralyzed nor are their brains affected.

From what you have described with your spine, you have an unstable spine, the vertebrae do not stay in place but move and that is causing you pain and your discs have degenerated, leaving you with very little disc to cushion the spaces between the vertebrae.

That causes a great deal of pain.

What type of surgery is your spine surgeon suggesting?

It would be a good idea to get more than one opinion on having spine surgery. You may find that you are more comfortable with a different spine surgeon than the one you have seen.

As for your fears of paralysis or your brain being affected. just forget about that idea.

I'm walking around fine and my brain is fine and I'm running my own business and have had 2 spine surgeries in less than 3 years.

So are thousands and thousands of other people as well.

Good luck

Fran
