I am a 23 year old female who has had lower back pain and knee pain for over 10 years now. I have always been very athletic and active. I started experiencing the intense lower back spasms when I was 13. The knee pain had gotten rapidly worse so they sent me to an orthopedic doctor who had me take a bone scan and then when the results were inconclusive she referred me to Shriner's Childrens Hospital in Houston, TX. They said that I had "jumpers knee" in both knees, and that I would grow out of it and that the angle of my hips was too far in therefore I walked with my feet pointing in put stress on my back knees and ankles. They told me I would grow out of the knee condition and that it would cause more damage to repair the angle of the hips then to live with it. I frequently have debilitating back spasms that my doctor gives me a steroid shot and some muscle relaxers to fix and my knees hurt almost everyday and like I have arthritis they get worse when there is a change in the weather. I basically live off of advil to make these things not as painful. Any thoughts on treatments or causes?
