Hi,

I am a software engineer working most of the time sitting. I am 29 yrs old, 6 ft tall and 75 kgs, so I feel fit myself. A year before , I started playing cricket all of the sudden and i got lower back pain. then I went to a sports doctor and he did some sort of manipulation and the pain was gone with in few minutes.

This year also , after no physical activity for about a year, i started to swim and play cricket. after two days, I got the same lower back pain again. this time very severe. can not stand and sit for more than 30 minutes.

I got MRI scan report in India with the below summary of problems mentioned. The doctors i spoke to are just interested in "WHAT" , but not "WHY". they tell me it is normal, use the tablets (Hifemac, mobrin, pantodac) and just take rest for a week, do some physio therapy, 80% people have this problem. etc. unfortunately, this is the biggest hospital in the city where I live.

summary:

1)There is loss of the lumbar lordosis

2)schmorls nodes are seen at multiple levels in lumbar vertebra

3)Mild bulge with a posterocentral protrusion is seen at the L5-S1 disc indenting the thecal sac and mildly compressing the lateral recesses

4)Mild diffuse bulge is seen at the L4- L5 disc, mildly indenting the tecal sac and mildly compressing the lateral recesses

5)signal changes in articular facet on left side - ? fracture

I dont understand any of these, can somebody throw light on these problems. I don't know the severity of the problem, what to do to get rid of these, avoiding these problems in future.

many many thanks in advance,
prabhakar
