Hello i am 22 years old and recently about 2-3 months ago was struck by a Dodge Magnum going approximately 30-40 MPH.. i was thrown onto the hood of the car and then flew into the air about 5-6 Ft. and landed on my lower back... i did not have health insurance at the time and got stuck with a 30,000 hospital bill from UCSD Medical Center in San Diego. I went to my fallow up appointment and told them how much pain i was in, all in the lower areas and they told me to get a CT Scan because they saw something on my Xrays in the area i was having pain.. however i did not get the Scan because of the cost... My pain was at a 8-9 for a month straight now its at a 4-5 everyday and when i am physically active goes up to a 9 or 10.. i have insurance now and want advice on what to do about my pain.. should i get the CT scan now or just get my XRAYS and goto a pain specialist? Any advice would be great thanks alot.

You need to get the x-rays and see a spine surgeon; either an orthopedic surgeon that specializes in spines or a neurosurgeon that specializes in spines only.

You will be evaluated by the spine surgeon and have an MRI done to aid in diagnosis of what is going on with your spine.

Since something was seen on the x-rays after your accident, it is likely that there is some serious things going on with your spine.

Get to a spine surgeon ASAP.

Good luck and let us know what the results are.

Thank you for the quick reply! I posted on another forum and someone said that i need to be careful about my insurance company that they might not pay for me to see a spine doctor because my injury happened before i got insurance.. is that true and if it is should i not bring my old xrays and just have them take new ones? Im concerned now so if anyone has any experience in this area please give me some advice!

It could be true, depends on your insurance and if there is some kind of pre-existing condition clause in the coverage that would prevent coverage for a certain period of time.

Either way, the x-rays would be important to be seen, and even if you left them behind, new x-rays would show an old injury that may or may not be healed or healed properly that would be evidence of a pre-existing condition

The fact is you are having a problem with your spine and you need to see a spine specialist and you need to see one right away.

Since this was an auto accident, you should be able to go after the person that hit you with the car and that person should have auto insurance that would pay for your injuries.

It sounds like this was not a hit and run, so the info should be with the police department and the records about the accident.

If you don't have that info now, get in from the police right away. You might need to get an attorney for this as well, if you have to fight the driver's auto insurance company, but you attorney fees should be covered by that as well.

You really need to see someone right away, and find out what is going on, what was seen on those x-rays and you really should bring them with you as well.

I'm sorry that was the case and it was a hit and run.

Either way, you still need to see a spine specialist and you need to do it now.
