Last August my white blood count was 5500. In May of this year, it was 3800 and now it is 3600. My doctor says to just wait and he will re-test it in 3 months. I bruise easily however, he said out of all of the 38 tests done with the CBC, the white blood count was the only one that was "abnormal". Can you give me any insight as to what might be causing this? I think I am in good health. Years ago, I had an ANA that keeps showing a "speckeled pattern" but nothing more has ever been said about that. I take Crestor and Celebrex.

Some people naturally have rather low white blood cells counts. In other cases, bone marrow disease, or even certain medications, may cause a progressive decrease in the white blood cell count. If your WBC continues to decline, then a referral to a Hematologist, for further work-up, would be approprioate.
