Hi there! My mother just received results of a blood test showing 2.700 in white blood cells. If I recall the normal is above 4.500 I wanted to ask what could be the cause of this. She has this problem for over 20 years. the usual results she gets are from 2.800 to 3.200 (once she got 3.400). The last one is 2.700 What could be the cause of this? I know for sure she removed her thyroid 25 years ago and she receives medication (something like T4..or something like that anyway...) but could this be the cause for such low white blood cells? Is it something serious? Since she has this for so many years, could this mean its just her organization that produces low white blood cells and she doesnt have a serious problem? She is 56 years old. Please enlighten me.
A worried son from Greece
