Q: low potassium levels during first trimester

My daughter-in-law is 15 weeks pregnant and has just been told she has low potassium levels but has to wait 2 weeks for another test. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this means and how it can be helped. She has already fainted,felt dizzy and has constant headaches.
