low hCG off depo Posted: 03-31-08 14:47pm
I recently found out I'm 20 weeks
pregnant. I got a blood test about a week
and a half before I found out and my dr.
said that guessing by the amount of
something [I can't remember what she said,
maybe hCG?] in the blood I was about 6-8
weeks pregnant. I got off depo (I didn't
get my shot) last month when I suspected I
was pregnant.
I got all my blood work done Friday and
am waiting for the results. I'm just
worried and getting antsy.
Is there reason for me to worry?
Thanks so much!

That is a HUGE difference from 20 weeks to
6 or 8....Did you type that right?? Or did
you mean to say something else??

yeah, that's why I'm stressing out.
I went and got the blood test, called and
asked if it was positive or negative and
the Dr. said "well, positive. I would put
you at about 6 to 8 weeks depending on the
____ levels in your blood. Don't take my
word, that's just a guess"
At the point I was actually around 18
weeks. (probably should've clarified, but
it's still an 8- 10 week difference)

Wouldnt they send you for an ultrasound??
I thought that after like 12 weeks your
levels drop down little by little until
the end of your pregnancy. If you were
around 20 weeks they should have done an
ultrasound to check on the baby...and not
just check your levels.

I had an untrasound after that and have
another one next month. That's how I found
out I was actually quite a bit further
along.

This is something you should really speak
with your doctor about. Did s/he seem
concerned enough to make you an
appointment immediately? There is a HUGE
difference between 6-8 weeks and 20 weeks
in all aspects of pregnancy and fetal
growth.
Yet this sounds like it was 2 weeks ago...
and if you've had an ultrasound that
showed an 18 week fetus, it sounds like
that is what it is.
Call your doctor about the low numbers on
your blood test or wait for your next
appointment.
