Mom had cysts on kidneys and died from kidney cancer 5 years ago.
I am 53, F and have always been healthy.
This years physical had an exclamation ! next to gfr which was 58.
There was a message about CKD as well.
My potassium was 5.7.
I started reading a lot about CKD and, concerned, I asked for a retest. Ultrasound normal but my gfr was 60 and potassium was 4.8. My doctor said I was OK and the potassium had serum with it so not accurate. He said I was healthy.
From what I have read-family history and low gfr are indicators of CKD. My finances are limited and I have been to the same doctor twice already. Should I forget about it?
Thank you for your response.
