I'm a 55yo female, VERY healthy lifestyle (organic 90%-raw diet, no alcohol or tobacco or caffeine or salt, run 5kms 3x/wk), although it is pressured and I do feel stress at times; probably menopausal now (periods scant spasmodic for 18 mths then probably had the last one 3 mths ago). I look healthy and never get colds or flu, but nevertheless have these health issues and now some test results that are a little concerning. Longstanding fatigue and IBS (diarrhea-type) has got worse the last 18mths, I developed peripheral sensory neuropathy about 2-3 years ago (MRI done - no MS), also palpitations (associated with left upper arm pain, left temple pain brain fog) developed 18mths ago (again no cause found), now I have these results plus sometimes fevers/flushes (which could be dismissed as just menopause symptoms, but I'm not sure) associated with the palpitations, a general feeling of being feverish at times, lower right-side pain (below the PSIS, lower than usual kidney pain?) which is now in the left side as well. Iassumed this pain was muscular, as it seems ot get worse after running. Also, sometimes I seem to not need to urinate at all, other times (especially after havign a huge green smoothie, which I'm now stopping in case it's harming my kidneys) I need to do small amounts frequently for hours.

The doctor isnt worried about these results which are just outside the normal ranges, but I dont want to take any risks with kidneys, and I'm worried they are somehow conected to the palpitations I've been experiencing for 18 months, for which no cause has been found.

The IBS has been much worse the last few years. This if often exacerbated after I run, resulting in I guess a significant loss of water and nutrients. I do drink water and eat lots of fruit veg to try to compensate, but I wonder if it has caused some kidney damage nevertheless? And maybe the kidney damage is causing the neuropathy and palpitations?

I feel like some harm was done when I was running in a VERY severe 2-week heatwave, in a no-airconditioned gym in a heavily ozone-polluted city (people were being warned to stay indoors unless absolutley essential, and drink a lot of water).

But I'm also a bit worried that the fevers and low back pain are a sign of something else - though if I DO have a kidney problem, it can't be just a recent onset infection, because my GFR has been very slightly below normal for 18 months - now it's a little lower than before, so I dont like the trend.

I'm giving up green smoothies and trying just drinking regular amounts of plain water during the day - not a huge amount at once followed by nothing for hours. Dont know if I should restrict water though - is it too much of a strain on the kidneys?

Any suggestions, anyone? The phosphate is being investigated with some PTH testing, but the doctor doesnt expect this will show anything. I'm alos having an echo and testing for pheochromocytoma, but agsin they will probably be normal (my ECG is normal - sinus bradycardia due to exercise).

What should I do to protect my kidneys?
