I am a 67 year old white female with the following lab results:
Glucose, serum 77
BUN 22
Creatinine, Serum .98
eGFR 57 low flag
BUN/CReatinine Ration 22
the rest of the results were normal.
What does the low eGFR reading mean for me?

Hello, and thanks for your medical question on eHealthForum.

From the parameters provided it seems that most of the renal functions are within normal levels.

The eGFR is a calculated estimate of the actual glomerular filtration rate and is based on your serum creatinine concentration. The recommended calculation uses a formula that also includes your age, gender, and race.

A normal eGFR is 60 or more. A low eGFR number may suggest kidney disease.

Your levels are just at the borderline and hence there is no reason to be alarmed about.

hello, i am 88 years old. my blood pressure runs about 176/80 and my lab results show that my bun level is 22, egfr(white amercian) is 59 i have had renal falure 3 yeas ago, should i be concerned about the test results.? Also i do not take any medications only over the counter for some frequent indegestion.
