I noticed that especially when I lie down or lean forward I have a dull ache in my right back. It is located near my waist below the ribs. It does not hurt when I externally touch or rub or massage the area. I have had it for several months. I have to wake up at night to urinate a few times but this is not new. The frequent urination has been going on since I had a hysterectomy about 20 years ago. Would you please give me some advice? Whenever I go to a doctor for something they treat me as though at best as if nothing is wrong and at the worst as though I am bothering them. Haven't been to a doctor for about 10 years because of this.

Have you ever had an X- ray to rule out curvature of the spine, scoliosis? If the pain is only on one side it could be that.

low dull back pain
No. Thank you for the thought. I am 54 and would have thought it would have been discovered by now. I had thought it was internal organ pain ie kidney or other abdominal organ because it does not hurt when I touch/palpate the area. But your idea was a smart one I had not thought of.

I'm 38 and was only diagnosed with scoliosis after arthritis and disk degenerative disease worsened my back problems three years ago. Sometimes it can be a slight curvature that is easily missed without an X-Ray/ MRI, but one that causes pain.
Good luck in finding a solution to your problem.

I know the feeling
I'm 21 and I have sorta the same problem. Only difference is I urine all the time and if I hold it I start getting the pain in my right side. I went to the doctor there is no sign of infection or anything. I do have scoliosis but that has nothing to do with the urination and pain in my kidney area. I don't have kidney stones or anything. So I know how you feel!
