Q: Low blood sugar episodes ?

Hello,
Lately I've been having what I think are low blood sugar episodes. I'll suddenly start getting weak and shaky without feeling hungry. It seems to occur most often in the afternoon-- either before lunch or in the late afternoon before dinner. I'm a little confused because it doesn't seem to be related to what I ate before. I don't notice that it happens after eating sugar unless I eat the sugary food on an empty stomach. Today I ate breakfast around 9:00-- scrambled eggs, a cup of half caff coffee with milk and one Wasa crispbread with Smart Balance. Around 10:30 I had a plain Wasa and a few raspberries. Right before lunch (around 1:00), I started getting symptoms and then had a salad with 3 ounces chicken, lettuce & spinach leaves, 1/2 cup basmati rice and 1 T. homemade ranch dressing (no sugar). I still felt weak after that so I drank about 6 oz. of 2% milk and then ate a banana. It's now 2:00 and while I don't feel shaky, I feel very tired and weak. Shouldn't I be feeling better by now?

From my experiences and my family member's experiences with low-blood sugar, it takes a long time for the body to regulate. My father says it took him almost two years to feel back to normal, and I've been on a hypoglycemic diet for four months, and I'm definitely much better but not great. It takes time and persistence and patience. One day of good eating is helpful, but you need to keep your diet up for many, many months. I drink no caffeine or alcohol, and I eat as minimal sugars as possible — I know, it's absolutely no fun, but I'd rather be healthy than a shaky, panicky, dizzy mess.
I wish you luck. Don't give up!
