Hi, i'm new to this site, so I hope someone can really help me. I actually need to find out some info for my very sick uncle. He has a number of problems.....lupus, heart defects, diabetic, R A....just to mention a few, but last week he had to go back into the hospital ( 6th time in just 2 months)..his white blood count was only 400, so I am trying to find out if one of his newest meds is making is count go way down. The med I am trying to find out about is Letairis. Also, his brother is undergoing treatment for leukmia...could he ALSO have this...please help.

According to one site, decreases in hemoglobin concentration and hematocrit were observed in clinical studies with Letairis. Another side effect of Letairis is low red blood count.
I found no information on whether it lowers white blood count. I do know that white blood cells help to fight off infection and, at 400, your uncle's level is much lower than the norm which is 5,000- 10,000.
The most distubing side effects of Letairis are liver damage and birth defects.
