Popping sound while sleeping
Kristin, I've been having the same "problem". Although it doesn't scare me it's enough to motivate me to do some research. This is the first article I found. My "pops" are usually when I'm about to wake up. I kinda get stuck in limbo where I fall back asleep and that's when I hear those pops. To me they feel or sound electrical. Sometimes its sound like a faucet that's dripping, every time it drips I hear that drop slam onto the sink loudly. Its been happing for a couple of weeks I think. very interesting. This morning I actually started experimenting with those pops. I was very aware of the sound because I was half awake. I would let myself fall back asleep and wait till I heard the popping sound. Thats when I heard the sound and I kept repeating it until I decided to just wake up.I will do some more research. Kristin, don't be scared. Life is very interesting and always beautiful no matter what the mind will tell you. Nothing on this earth can really harm you. Life and death are the same. Its the mind that takes control over us and creates fears.
I will check back here to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

Kristin,

I had this the other night as well...I did some research and found that it is a physical condition called "Exploding Head Syndrome". It is not thought to be dangerous.

Here are some links w/ some more info:

Hope this helps...

Don't Worry
Don't worry, guys. The it happened to me at 17 also, exactly the same thing, i felt actually like committing suicide cause i though i would soon loose my mind. Anyway, i wrote like two pages of my story on another form which i am not going to do here, cause the answer is it will go away, just STOP stressing and change your life style. Take a vacation. That is what i did, and i am 24 now, and i've never had this problem since i was 17 ( It began at 17 and troubled me for 6 months, approximately i experienced 5 attacks. )

God bless,
