Is it normal to always have lots of phlegm in your throat? Whenever I spit it out it always seems there is more! Especially at night there is a lot.

No, it is not normal to have any phlegm in the throat. Phlegm in the throat could indicate upper respiratory infection (sinusitis, rhinitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis) or lower respiratory infection (tracheitis, bronchitis or pneumonia).
How long do you experience this excessive phlegm in the throat?

Constant phlegm in throat
I am a 60 year old female of normal weight. About one month ago, I started to experience a feeling of phlegm in my throat. I have tried over the counter products such as Mucinix and Claritin. I did go to an ENT physician who did not give me a definite answer as to the cause. It is very uncomfortable. I am constantly trying to clear my throat with little or no result-very little phlegm (white) comes up.
What should I do.

I have a realated thing to this. I constantly have phlegm in my throat. Every day 24/7. Constantly clearing it and annoying those arround me. I dont care what they think about the sound of clearing. Im just getting that ucky stuff out of it.
Anyway. I had sometesting testing done. A skin allergy test was performed. I only reacted to dust mites. I do notice an increase of phlegm when in a dusty enviroment or cleaning out a computer. I just learned to live it. It would be nice for a cure but I don't see one in the near future.

Phlegm in the throat for many years
I too have phlegm in my throat on a constant basis. I do not smoke and I have never smoked. I rarely get coughs and colds - perhaps once every four years. I have discovered that I react to dust (and have wooden floorboards throughout my house, which probably exacerbates the problem). I have an allergy to dairy products (although not goats milk) and have been drinking soy milk for many years. I was told recently that soy milk can cause phlegm and throat irritations. I decided to stop drinking soy milk for 7 days. The phlegm reduced significantly. Tonight I has some soy ice cream and behold - the phlegm has returned. Soy appears to be a contributory factor for me and something which I will now eliminate from my diet.
