Q: Loss of sex drive

My sex drive has gradually been fading. I don't have erection problems, it's just that I don't think about sex anymore as I've gotten older, like I did when I was younger or even like I did last year. I'll be 49 this month and my "new" wife is suffering in silence because of it. And it's not because I'm no longer attracted to her. I just don't have the urge anymore. Does anyone know what this could be and if there are vitamins or an herbal remedy, which might help?

Have you consulted with your doctor? Testosterone levels may be depleted and may be the cause. There are some medications to treat this. Talk with your doctor. You are too young to be having these issues.

Loss of sex drive
Hello,

I am a fiance of a man that is going through this same problem. He is 40 and has no urge for sex. It has been very frustrating for me and it does really make me feel like the problem is me. I am wondering the same..is there anything he can do to help this "urge" come back and why do men lose the urge even though he is still able to have an erection but has no interest in having sex.

Thanks,
pickndaisys

As you get older your free testosterone levels drop this could cause the problems you are having, go have your free testosterone levels checked, and if they low.

Before you start on any medication from the doctor I personally would try ZMA(Zinc monomethionine aspartate and Magnesium Aspartate), Is a balanced suplement of zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6.

I used this when I used to weight lift to increase my free testosterone levels and it worked to great efect, it used to be an expensive supplement but it has come down in price alot over the last year or so.

Do a google search for "The Orgasmic Diet" which consists of high-dose pharmaceutical grade fish oil which boosts libido in a lot of men and women (but not everyone). Taking high dose fish oil is sufficient to boost libido as it increases dopamine in the brain.

tiphat Men and women both can go through this.
Most of the time you hear of it as menopause, but men at this age and like myself can also get this.
I have always had a strong sex drive and it seems that in the past few years I have seen a change.
Now work and everyday stress for me was high. This can effect you even if your not thinking about it during sex.
Much like a women and there monthly cycles, men also can have these. It just effects the mojoe, {the wanting of sex} more .
For guys it can be a hard thing to take and many questions can come up.
First thing to do is relax, your not the only one and it does happen to many folks.
Try and see if the stress of everyday living like bills or a job issue might have a role.
Sometimes even lifting weights or even riding a bike to much can be a factor.
Talk with a doctor but keep in mind that taking medication should be a last resort. Some of those side effects are just too strange.
The most important thing to do is to talk to your partner. This is something that really effects the both of you.
Good Luck.

Well I think it's all about diversity in the couple and the obvious communication. sex drive will go hand in hand with the relationship's health as a whole. I say have a big talk about remaining open to different options and all and then... surprise them with stuff... lingerie, games, toys, whatever just make it happen... there are also a bunch of pills out there in the market, but I'm not talking about something for erectile dysfunction. More on the line of herbal supplement, the natural stuff your body needs anyways.

I know I've tried this thing Virilix that only has natural ingredients. It doesn't make your penis larger or longer and it's not some crazy side effect prone med. The thing gave me boost of energy for sure and I could see a small difference in my sex drive which was all good.

Cheers!

You age can definately be a factor in determining the problem. I believe its just a deterioration of the libido to tell you the truth. It results in a lack of sex-drive.

Have you looked into a penis ring? Not the rubber ones... I'm talking about a quality ring. There's a couple good ones out there. try the OQ ring. its customized to fit you and it helps with problems that are similar to what you are facing.

hope it helps!

I am 53 and have experienced the same decrease in sex drive. I am circumcised and my penis has been gradually getting desensitized from the constant rubbing on my underwear. When I do have sex, it takes me forever to ejaculate and it seems like a lot of work for little result. I started restoring my foreskin and found that my penis is regaining its sensitivity now that the foreskin is long enough to protect my penis. This pretty much solved my problem.

Loss of Sex Drive
Well Iv'e read some comments on this subject. In this case, I am only 23 years old and feel no urge to fornicate with my fiance of three years. We have one daughter and another child on the way. It feels like I have lack of energy during sex, and find it difficult to even get into the mood. My fiance is 23 as well and shes pretty upset thinking its her fault, I tell her shes still attractive which i think is true. I can get an erection, but while having sex i lose it. Its been going on for about seven months and it's really starting to get to me now. How can i help my energy loss or even new thiongs to try to get myself back into her.
