I swim about 4 times a week (10 miles or so) and flip turn while doing so. This is a very basic skill that comes second nature to me (quick flip and a twist at the wall, similar to a somersault). For two days now when I have gone swimming I cannot perform the function. My mind is telling my body what to do but it will not listen. For some reason my body will not preform the basic act of flipping over. I am fine swimming but when I get to the wall I my body becomes completely disorientated while my mind knows exactly what to do. I just end up almost swimming into the wall, flopping sideways or upside down, and my body wants to keep turning the wrong direction. It does not get better with practice either (after over an hour of trying each day). I just consistently cannot flip over. Yesterday I found it to be extremely strange and incredibly frustrating but figured that it was some weird fluke. When the same thing happened today I became a little concerned. This has not been a slow progression either. I was completely fine swimming Monday and the next day I cannot preform a basic motor skill that I do all the time. It is my body has forgotten how to ride a bike. And no, I did not get hit in the head or anything like that.
Thanks to anyones insight.
