Ok, i'm 25 years old. i've been married 7 years and had only one partner my whole life, no std's or any of that. my first pregnancy in 2004 ended in miscarriage before i ever knew i was pregnant. up to that point i'd always been irregular. i was fairly regular after that and got pregnant 5 months later. my son was born in february of 2006 via c-section. i started using birth control pills that may and never missed a dose (yaz) but got surprised by pregnancy in august. at the time i worked with children with autism. when i was about 11 weeks along i was assaulted (dragged to the floor by my hair and kicked repeatedly in the stomach). the next day the cramping and bleeding began and 4 days later i lost the baby. for the next 12 months i had no periods at all. so i finally went to a doctor and she did a cat scan which found nothing abnormal, and blood tests found elevated testosterone but she said not enough to cause my symptoms. she had me take a med to start my period, and a med to make me ovulate. started my period the first time but no ovulation, period came with second try and a double dose of the med made me ovulate. got pregnant and 8 weeks in started bleeding on a sunday, called the doctor and she did an ultrasound. found fraternal twins. suspected they were originally triplets but lost one. only bled for the one day. bled again the following 2 sundays, again for one day only and lighter each time. the twins were born one month early in august of 2008 via c-section. both full-term pregnancies i had gestational diabetes, and both times i had low breast milk supply. periods were like clockwork for 6 months, now i haven't had one since february 8. i can't understand the problem. i do suspect i've had some cysts burst somewhere around my baby parts Smile if you have any ideas for me i'd appreciate it so much. sorry if it's too much info just wanted to give all the pieces of the puzzle.

PCOS can cause symptoms of abnormal menstrual bleeding. (multiple cysts on or of the ovaries) But it seems that you are definitely experiencing secondary amenorrhea ( you used to have a regular period but then it stopped for at least three months.

Are you sure that you aren't pregnant?
Could the lack of menstruation be caused by breastfeeding?
Other causes could include:

Hormonal problems
Low body weight
Premature ovarian failure

How to treat amenorrhea?
Treatment for amenorrhea depends on the underlying cause. Sometimes lifestyle changes can help if weight, stress, or physical activity is causing the amenorrhea. Other times medications and oral contraceptives can help the problem. For more information, talk to your doctor.
