Q: Loss of erection from drug use ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on October 5th, 2009
I took a girl home from a party last night. I was drunk and had eaten half a pill of extacy and smoked about 2 joints. I know i shouldn't be taking drugs yet that is not what my question is about. We got home and everything seemed fined i got an erection and after foreplay I was able to get about 4 or 5 pumps in before my penis lost its erection. It went into a totally flaccid state. I was able to regain the erection two or three times yet unable to maintain for more than 2-3 minutes. It seemed like i was losing concentration and along with the concentration loss came a loss of erection? Is this from the drugs? Or something like Erectile Dysfunction. It was both embarrassing and worrying for me... Please give me some feedback as I am worried that the next time i get a girl into bed it may happen again???

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Ecstasy can cause nerve stimulation followed by low sensory output and thus prolonged use can damage the nerves including the nerves involved in ejaculation and erection.
Marijuana is known to cause erectile dysfunction on long term use. Combined effect of Ecstacy and marijuana can be more harmful.
The side effects are reversible depending on how long you have used the drugs and the extent of damage. You should stop taking the drugs, probably join a de-addiction center and discuss your problems.
If you took the drugs just that day, then it was the effect of the drugs that caused erectile dysfunction. Once the effect wears off, the problem should not recur.
However confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net. Please discuss this with an internal medicine or narcotics specialist. Hope this helps. Take care!
