Q: losing weight but wearing bigger sizes on depo shot

i have been taking the depo shot for 6months have had my period for 2months i thought i was gaining weight because my clothes weren't fitting but i went for my second shot and ihad lost 1lb i just went to the doctor again and i lost 6more pounds so i thought it was my washer shrinking my clothes but i bought new clothes in one size bigger than normal and they don't fit either anyone know how i can be loosing weight and expanding at the same time????? i really want to know whats going on and how i can stop it.

Well, you could be gaining width while loosing muscle weight. One pound isn't remarkable and is really attributable to the scale being different from the one you use at home. I'd say it's more likely that you are in fact NOT losing any weight. You're gaining fat.

The only way to stop it would be to not get another shot.

I wouldn't go by sizes, I'd actually measure and see if the measurements are changing. You girls know how sizes can be so unreliable!!

I agree! In one brand I'll just slip into a 3, and in another brand I struggle zipping up a 5!! I would measure with a measuring tape and compare that way. Gaining weight is a side effect of the depot. If it is bothersome, I would talk to your doctor about not taking the next shot and switching to another form of birth control.

I was a size 6 when I got married, but my wedding dress was a size 12! Lol...
