Hello

A few months ago after a couple of visits to my g.p. I was referred to a physiotherapist. I had been experiencing lower back pain ranging from like a mild, 'burning' sort of feeling to extreme discomfort where I couldn't move or lie down without it hurting like hell. I also wanted to improve my posture after noticing that my lower back curved in slightly...

I attended a couple of sessions where I was demonstrated some stretches and exercises which would help me. I continued to do these for a while and to an extent, they worked. The pain ceased.

Thing is, since then, I've noticed that every now and then the middle of my chest 'cracks' (like you would your knuckles). It's quite a wierd sensation and isn't painful as such, but it feels odd unless I do crack it (I kind of stretch until it does it).

I stopped doing the exercises (through...laziness I suppose) but I have two questions, whether I'm doing more harm than good (and should I visit the doctor about it) and will extended exercises actually straighten my lower back, making the curve less so? I'd like that!

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks.

A visit to a spine specialist would be your best option. A complete spine evaluation would be the best to see what is actually going on.

If you are doing the wrong exercises for what is wrong, you could. potentially, do more harm to yourself and your spine than good.
