Loose tooth from exssive work/infection....(I'm confused)

OK I have a tooth I've had 2 Apicoectomies on It's been broken had a crown lengthening and eventually need need to be removed....

But it seems according to my dentist that day might be farther off than we all think. After concern from my hygienist My Dentist confirmed that this loose tooth (it's in the front) isn't as loose as it used to be even with some slight bone loss.

This has me confused as all hell. Is the X-ray wrong and there isn't as much boneloss as we think? Is the infection healing CAN it heel? Why if this infection is rotting away bone is my tooth not as loose as it used to be?

I AM CONFUSED can somebody explain what might be going on that is causing this doomed tooth to basically stay in place despite the dire prognosis?
